Owens Corning Roofing Shingles

When it comes to protecting your home, the materials you choose matter just as much as the contractor you hire. Owens Corning has been manufacturing roofing products for over 85 years, building a reputation on innovation, durability, and performance. As an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, Moss Roofing gives Indianapolis homeowners access to some of the best shingles on the market along with the best Owens Corning warranty options that go above and beyond what most contractors can offer. If your roof is past its prime or you’re planning an upgrade after storm-related damage, we’ll help you find the right Owens Corning product for your home, your budget, and your long-term goals.

SERVING INDIANAPOLIS SINCE 1991

Moss Roofing has been a trusted name in Central Indiana for over 30 years.
When Adam Moss took over the family business, he kept the same values that built it — honesty, integrity, and quality workmanship on every project.
We’re not a national chain. We’re your neighbors, and we treat every customer that way.

What Makes Owens Corning Stand Out?

Not all roofing brands are created equal. Owens Corning is one of the few manufacturers that produces every component of a complete roofing system — shingles, underlayment, starter strips, hip and ridge caps, and ventilation — all engineered to work together. That matters because when every piece comes from the same manufacturer, you get a roof that performs as a unified system. There’s no guessing whether one product will work with another. Owens Corning products are backed by decades of testing, real-world performance data, and a brand that stands firmly behind what they make. That’s exactly the kind of manufacturer Moss Roofing is proud to partner with.

SureNail® Technology: A True Industry First

SureNail® Technology is one of the most significant innovations in residential roofing and it’s exclusive to Owens Corning’s Duration Series. Here’s what it means for your roof: a tough, woven engineered fabric strip is built directly into the shingle’s nailing zone, creating Triple Layer Protection® where it matters most. This reinforced strip provides a visible guide for installers and dramatically improves the shingle’s ability to resist wind. Duration shingles with SureNail Technology carry a 130 MPH wind resistance warranty — and they achieve that rating with just four nails per shingle. No other manufacturer offers a comparable reinforced nailing zone. It’s a genuine engineering advantage, not just a marketing claim.

Owens Corning Warranty Options

One of the strongest reasons to choose Owens Corning — and to choose a Platinum Preferred Contractor like Moss Roofing — is the warranty protection available to you. Owens Corning structures its warranties across four tiers, and the level of coverage you receive depends on how many Owens Corning components are used in your installation and which contractor you hire.

Standard Product Limited Warranty

This warranty applies to any Owens Corning installation and includes a limited lifetime duration with a 10-year TRU PROtection® Period. During those first 10 years, both materials and labor are covered for manufacturing defects. After that window, coverage becomes prorated and applies to materials only. It’s a solid baseline, but the upgraded tiers offer significantly more peace of mind.

System Protection Limited Warranty

This tier extends the TRU PROtection® Period to 50 years and adds coverage for tear-off and disposal costs — a meaningful upgrade. It requires installation by an Owens Corning Preferred or Platinum Preferred Contractor and a minimum of three Owens Corning roofing components beyond the shingles themselves.

Preferred Protection Limited Warranty

The Preferred Protection warranty adds something the lower tiers don’t offer: 10 years of workmanship coverage. If an installation issue surfaces in the first decade, Owens Corning steps in to arrange the repair — covering labor, materials, tear-off, and disposal. This tier requires four Owens Corning components, including hip and ridge and underlayment, installed by a Preferred or Platinum Preferred Contractor.

Platinum Protection Limited Warranty

The Platinum Protection warranty is the highest level of coverage Owens Corning offers. It extends workmanship coverage to 25 full years (non-prorated), and then continues on a prorated basis for the lifetime of ownership. This is the only Owens Corning warranty with lifetime workmanship protection, and it’s exclusively available through Platinum Preferred Contractors like Moss Roofing. We’ll walk you through which warranty tier makes the most sense for your project during your free inspection.

Owens Corning FAQ

SureNail® Technology is a patented innovation exclusive to Owens Corning’s Duration Series shingles. It features a woven fabric strip embedded in the shingle’s nailing zone that reinforces the installation point and delivers a 130 MPH wind resistance warranty with just four nails. No other roofing manufacturer offers a comparable system.

The TRU PROtection® Period is the non-prorated window within an Owens Corning warranty during which both materials and labor are fully covered for manufacturing defects. Depending on the warranty tier, this period ranges from 10 to 50 years.

No. The top two warranty tiers — Preferred Protection and Platinum Protection — require installation by an Owens Corning Preferred or Platinum Preferred Contractor. Moss Roofing holds Platinum Preferred Contractor status, which means we can unlock ANY of these elevated coverage options for our customers.

Both shingles achieve the highest available impact resistance rating, but they use different technology to get there. Duration FLEX uses SBS polymer-modified asphalt throughout the shingle for rubber-like flexibility, while Duration STORM uses a patented WeatherGuard® polymer backing layer. Either option may qualify you for homeowner insurance discounts. We can help you determine which is the better fit for your home during your free inspection.

Yes. Most Owens Corning shingles include StreakGuard® Algae Resistance, which uses copper-containing granules to prevent the black streaks caused by algae growth. This protection is backed by a 10-year warranty, extendable when qualifying Owens Corning hip and ridge products are used.

Yes. Owens Corning warranties are transferable one time within 60 days of a real estate transaction. This can increase your home’s value if you decide to put it on the market. Lifetime workmanship coverage applies only to the original homeowner of a single-family detached home.
